The Parents ',: orkshop , a family
counseling-drug abuse program, was held in the . u.11er
Room on Oct . 7 , 7, , and 9 . Eight people attended the
first day, six on the second and third. Only two were
from .]uless , the rest from Richland Hills and Haltom City.
The persons who were contacted said that the experience was
meaningful and rewarding, helped each to understand family
members better, recognize problems and sources of them. Don
Solomon of the Arlington Office of the Lrug Abusr :.enter who
coordinated the ',:ITorkshop reported that he was -pleased with
the attendance and participation. The Council for ' ocial.
: oncerns representative , Barbara Zieschang, said she was
frustrated at the small turn-out considering the amount of
work put out in advertising and the results of the recent
surve conducted. by the United !und Planning P.esearch. Munoil
in Thiess whi.ch indicated the Drug Abuse Problem second in
Prior ley . The i.ouncil for Social oncerns will be studying
the effectiveness of the contract with the Drug Abuse nouncil
in considering recommendation for re-funding to the : ity " ourcil
in December.

After some discussion, the Mairman
appointed a committee to meet with Ere . Armstrong to put
together a. new policy concerning the binding policy for
aperbacks . '.i'he committee consists of Hugh Waite , 3arbara
d.eschang, and :irs . Armstron,g. The policy will be presented to
the 'Board 'f.'or its approval at the November meeting.
