Two groups of Boy Scouts interviewed Ns. Armstrong as City Librarian as part of their Citizenship Merit Badge re- quirement. She answered many questions and gave each a sample application, book card, book mark and a publication, BEST BOOKS FOR CHILDREN to help with their merit badge projects. Two of the Scouts wish to serve as Library workers as part of their badge requirements. The Library has been trying to collect books and magazines to help the Mosier Valley CAA Center 1iibrary Pro- ject. SPECIAL COMMITTEE lMr. Scott moved that a Special Committee to advertise and give particular support to next years Summer Libraries be formed and headed by Mr. Barrowcliff. Ms. Mathews seconded the motion and the vote, as follows: ayes, all members present; nays none. TARRANT COUNTY LIBRARY STUDY COMMITTEE REPORT A meeting was held on August 4 at the Tarrant County Commissioners Court Room of representatives from the 18 libraries in the County for the purpose of forming a Library Study Committee to consider and recommend changes in County funding of libraries and alternative library systems. Officers were elected, consisting of Ms. Martha Folbre (Bedford) , chair- man; Hugh 'Waite (Euless) , vice-chairman; and Ns. Barbara Zieschang (Euless) , secretary. A Special Budget Committee was appointed by the Chairman and was instructed to prepare a budget for perusal and approval of the Study Committee before November 1 , when the County Commissioners will begin to consider the budget recom- mendations. HOSTING THE TSL WORKSHOP Ms. Mathews will contact Friends of the Library and other interested parties to aid in serving refreshments REGULAR MEETING, Euless Library Board August 8, 1972 Page 3 at the Workshop to be held at the Library September 14. Board members and Ms. Armstrong are still collectioS (and will welcome) items to give to the participants to advertise the Euless area. DISTRIBUTION OF QUESTIONAIRE A motion was made by Ms. Zieschang that the discussion and decision on distribution of the questionaire concerning library hours and services be tabled until the September meeting. Ms. Mathews seconded the motion, and the vote, as follows: ayes, all members present; nays, none. ADJOURNMENT The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ms. Zieschang, seconded by Ms. Mathews. Zieschang, Secret y REGULAR MEETING Euless Library Board August 8, 1972 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order in the Fuller Room of the Library at 7:03 P.M. by V . W. McCormick, chairman. Members present were as follows: W.. W. -icCormick, George Scott, George Barrow- cliff, Ms. Bernard Mathews, and Mrs. W. R. Zieschang. Absent, Hugh Waite. Also present was Ms. Geneva Armstrong, Librarian. MINUTES Minutes of the July meeting were approved as read on a motion by Ms. Mathews, seconded by Mr. Scott. The vote, as follows: ayes, all members present; nays none. LIBRARIANS REPORT Ms. Armstrong reported a decrease of -7.9 in circulation under the first seven months of 1971 . The new registrations have increased. The date of the Texas State Library Workshop to be held at the Library in September has been changed from the 23rd to the 14th. The Workshop will last from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. As a part of the Workshop will concern Trustees, the Board has asked to be notified as to the time of the part which they might profitably attend. Ms. Armstrong will attend the three day Work- shop on Programs and Services to Children to be held in Lubbock on August 23, 24, and 25. The Workshop will be conducted by Ms. Celia Carroll, Coordinator of Children' s Services, Austin Public Library, and will be sponsored by Texas Tech University Library, Lubbock City-County Libraries, TSL Field Services Div. TRLA Chairman, Ms. Nary Lou Reddick (Lake Worth Library) has appointed a committee of four to meet with the Budget Committee of Tarrant County Library Study Committee on Wednesday, August 16, at the Euless Library. The Summer Libraries in Wilshire and Oakwood Terrace Elementary Schools were closed today, August 8.
