Euless Library Board

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless
Library Board was called to order in the main Library
at 7 p.m. by Yr. Hugh Waite, vice-cnairman. members
present were as follows: Yessrs Hugh Waite, George Scott,
George Barrowcliff, and Frs. W. R. Zieschang.
Also present Was Yrs . Geneva Armstrong ,
Librarian.

The minutes of the April meeting
were approved with one correction, that being the title
of Yr. Jack Corliss who is Chairman of Tarrant Regional
Library Association rather than District as stated.
A r. '3arrowcliff moved for acceptance of corrected Minutes ,
seconded by ir. Scott. Vote as follows: ayes , all members
present; nays , none. Chairman declared the minutes accepted .
LIBAARL MN'S REPORT
Yrs. Armstrong reported a decrease in
circulation of -,3.b% over the first four months of 1971 .
The reference and s .udy facilities of the Library are in
demand for students after school studying r or finals and are
in daily use.
Both sites for Summer Libraries were
v sited during April by Yrs . Armstrong in the company oz

Hurst-Euless-Bedford School District. Yr. Waller,
principal of Wilshire Eger entary is enthused ana eager
to cooperate. All arra_ngerents are set for Wilshire.
The Chairman or the Volunteer iothers who run me Oakwood
l±errace library during the school year will cooperate and
Yr. Colvert, principal, agreed to leave a key to the vice-
principal 's orfice so that the Library staff may have use
of a telephone. As there was some doubt about, having the
hallway barricaded for traffic control, it was suggested
that the Board write a letter to Yr. Wages requesting that
this be done. The Secretary was so instructed.
A Workshop at the Decatur Public
Library was attended by Virs. Armstrong . it was sponsored
by the Texas State Library Field Services Division, and
the speaker was Yrs. Vanita Lee Rothe'', r'ieid (moons' ltant.
Her subject was Proposal Writing and Evaluation Technique.
Also available were bibliographies of which the ones on
early cnildhood enrichment were of special interest to our
_Library.
Yrs. Armstrong announced that the
City has received the second installment or the Cnildrens
Book Anti-Trust Litigation monies in the amount of 5499. 14.
The Second Urade classes of 1 idway Park
Elementary are visiting the Library one at a time during the
first two weeks of lay.

COYYITTEE REPORTS
Yr. Waite reported that uhe aeeLing called by the
?ort '.,forth City Council and the _arrant, County Commissioners
Court on April 19th was attended by himself and Yrs. Waite,
Fayor and Frs. Krause, Lrs. Zieschng and P r >. Armstrong
from Euless . The meeting; was well attended by mayors and
board members from many of the cities in ' arrant County,
but only two of the Commissioners and none of the City Co ncil-
men were there. The purpose of the meetin ° was to discuss
the TCTT Civic Affairs deport on Consoludation of Libraries.
Ali representatives of t, e cities objected to the Report
as having false information and misrepresenting the facts ,
acid a req est was made to the Commissi: ners that a study
committee coaposed of representatives iron the area libraries
cue set up by the Court to study the matter further. Both
Commissioners Richardson and Lewis agreed to present this
red est to the Commissioners Court.

fact that when a lost or damaged book is paia ior by the
patron responsible, uhat money is deposited in the City
