W. W. McCormick, chairman. t'embers present were as follows: Messrs W. W. McCormick, George Barrowcliff; Mesdms Bernard Mathews and W. R. Zieschang. Absent, Messrs George Scott and Hugh Waite. Also present was Frs. Geneva Armstrong , Librarian, and a visitor, Miss Andrea Barrowcliff. MINUTES The minutes of the March meeting were read and one correction was made, the spelling of the name of Miss Velma Morse (Morris) . This correction being made , the minutes were approved as read by a motion made by Mr. Barrowcliff, seconded by Mrs . i_athews , and voted as follows: ayes , all members present; nays , none. Chairman declared the minutes approved. LIBRARIAN 'S REPORT Mrs. Armstrong reported a decrease in circulation of 1 .7% below the first three months of 1971 . She has had favorable comment on the entry bulletin board posted by the Ecology Club in honor of Earth Week, April 17-22, emphasizing recycling, cooperation against various forms of polution and informa- tion on what can be done. Mr. Griggs ' has informed the Library that the copying and reprinting of the corrected By-Laws is now a duty of the Library. A copy of the TCU Civic Affairs Report as regards the consolidation of Tarrant County Libraries was photocopied for each member of the Euless City Council preparatory to the meeting on March 21 . Also included was a copy of a report presented to the Haltom City Council by the Haltom City Library Board of Trustees concerning said Civic Report. The Euless Library has received the .; 2,000 from Tarrant County Public ±'ands. Frs. Martha Folbre, chairman of the Bedford Library Board, sent a letter to Mrs. Armstrong suggesting a preparatory meeting on April 12 at the Haltom City Library Meeting Room to discuss the invitation of all Library Boards (County) to meet with the Fort '.forth City Council and County Commissioners regarding the TCU Report. On April 10, Yrs. Frances Stacy and kargo Burge from the Fort Worth kajor hesource _.:enter visited Euless to discuss a visit from tne "r'unmobile" and other facilities available to help promote the summer reading program tnis year. A workshop for use and making of puppetry is in planning stages and will hopefully be available to Librarians and library workers soon. An oral history workshop is also planned. t.rs. Armstrong reported great interest snown in this possibility at the Texas Library Association convention. Gn march 9 kiss Velma korse and Yr. Bennie 'Wilcox, Jr. met with Frs. Armstrong witn a list of books they would like to use in tneir summer reading program at tne Civic center in Yosier Va_:_ley. As this list included almost all of tne books on black c;.liture and our library generally can afford only one copy of these books , Frs . Armstrong requested help from the tort Worth Library especially as kosier valley does lie within tne Fort Worth city limits. •kiss Yorse spoke with Miss Stacy, the Extension Branch Librarian, anu it is agreed that Fort Worth will supply the kosier Valley ';enter with a collection of books through an inter-library loan, and Euless Library will gladly loan books to the Center on the same basis as school teachers are served. Frs. Armstrong attended tne Texas Library Association convention in Galveston on April 4-7. She reports that the most interesting displays were on various audio and visual aids, and that these were mostly of excellent quality. kany catalogs and pamphlets on audio-visuals were brought back for perusal and use by Yrs . Armstrong. The District Texas Library Association meeting will be held April 21 at Euless with Arlington as co-host. Speaker will be the secretary of the I:ajor Re- source Center Advisory Council, Yrs. Zieschang . kr. Jack Corliss , Arlington Librarian and chairman of District Texas Library Association has extended an invitation to all bard members and Friends of Libraries -to this meeting. Gratitude to kiss Andrea Barrowcliff for the use and display in the Library of her painting of E le ss Library Board Yeeting , April 11 , 1972 - Page 3 "Jeremy Fischer" , by Ed YcCurdy, was expressed by Yrs. Armstrong to the young lady who was present at the meeting. COYYITTEE REPS`STS George Barrowcliff reported that the Board (Yrs . I•.athews only exception) attended the Euless City Council Yeeting on April 21 to request Council action in support or the Board ' s stand on the -TCU Report. The Council passed a resolution in support of the Board 's stand and agreed to send a letter to that effect to the County Commissioners Court. Mayor Krause agreed to attend the fort Worth Council and Commissioners Yeeting with I"r. Waite on April 19. North Richland Hills City Council has also passed a resolution supporting their Library Board 's stand against this Report. S-'YVER LIBRARY PROGRAN Yrs. Armstrong has an appointment to meet with T ors . Linda tionaker, HEB Elementary School Librarian, on April 13 to look at both Wilshire and uairood 'Terrace schools , meet the Principals , and make final plans for the use of the school as Summer Libraries.
