Euless Library Board
April 28, 1971
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Library
Board was called to order at 6:45 P.M. in the Fuller Room of Euless Public
Library, with Chairman George Scott presiding. Members present are listed,
as follows : Mesdms. W. R. Zieschang, George Goss , Bernard Mathews , Messrs.
W. W. McCormick and George Scott. (Absent : Mrs. Jarrell Bolton)
Also present was Mrs. Geneva Armstrong,
Librarian.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT,
MRS . GENEVA ARMSTRONG
Mrs. Armstrong, Librarian, reported an
increase of 12.6% over the previous year in the circulation of books at
Euless Public Library.
She reported that the recent Book Review
was a success, and another is planned for the month of May.
Mrs. Armstrong advised that posters con-
cerning National Library Week are on display, and that Amnesty Week, which
was observed during National Library Week, was successful .
She advised that Mid-Cities Artists '
Association recently donated three (3) books to the Library.
Mrs. Armstrong reported that a new ser-
vice has been initiated: a collection of books was taken to Euless Nursing
Home, as a service to the patients. This collection will be left there for
a period of time, then it will be replaced by other books.
Mrs . Armstrong stated that "Following
the Trail of Tears" is the theme of the 1971 Summer Reading Program.
II .
SPONSORSHIP OF BOOK REVIEWS
Mrs. Zieschang made a motion that the
Euless Library Board sponsor Book Reviews which are planned for the immediate
future.
Mrs. Mathews seconded the motion, and
the vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mesdms. Zieschang, Mathews , Goss, Messrs. McCormick and
Scott
Nays : None

Chairman Scott declared the motion carried.
III .
RECOMMENDATION FOR ADOPTION OF
POLICY FOR RETURN OF OVERDUE BOOKS
Mr. McCormick moved to inform City Manager
Griggs of the method used by the City of Haltom City to reclaim overdue books ,
suggesting that the City of Euless use the same system.
Mrs . Mathews seconded the motion, and the
vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mesdms. Mathews, Zieschang, Goss, Messrs. McCormick and
Scott
Nays : None
Chairman Scott declared the motion carried.

minutes in Office of the City Secretary.)
IV.
DISCUSSION OF PROBLEM CONCERNING
CHILDREN PLAYING IN LIBRARY BUILDING
DURING THE NOON HOUR
Members of the Library Board noted that
they have not received a reply to the letter of request to City Manager Griggs
that the recreation building remain open during the lunch hour to prevent
the routing of playing children into the library.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESERVATION OF
THE FULLER ROOM
The announcement was made that a Police
School will be held in the Fuller Room of Euless Public Library during the
month of May, 1971 .
VI .
APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE TO EXPLORE
POSSIBILITY OF OPENING TWO SCHOOL
LIBRARIES IN THE SUMMER OF 1972
Mrs. Mathews moved that the Library Board
explore the possibility of opening two school libraries during the summer of
1972, under the auspices of Euless Public Library, as is done in the City of
Hurst.

Mrs. Zieschang seconded the motion, and
the vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mesdms. Mathews , Zieschang and Goss, Messrs. McCormick
and Scott
Nays : None
Chairman Scott declared the motion carried.
Mr. Scott and Mrs. Mathews were appointed
as a working committee on this project.
VII .
ADJOURNMENT
Mrs. Zieschang moved for adjournment of
the meeting.
Mrs. Mathews seconded the motion, and the
vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mesdms. Zieschang, Mathews and Goss, Messrs. McCormick
and Scott
Nays : None
Chairman Scott declared the meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
