Regular Meeting
Euless Library Board
January 16, 1970
CALL TO ORDER
The Euless Library Board convened in
regular session at 7:00 P.M. on January 16, 1970, in the Library Building.
Members present are listed as follows: Messers. George Scott and W. W.
McCormick; Mesdms. Winifred Goss, Barbara Zteschang and Ruby Harris.
(Absent: Chairman Wayne O 'Daniel)
Also present was Mrs. Geneva Armstrong,
Librarian.
VISITORS
Mr. Kim Zieschang, son of Mrs. Barbara
Zieschang was present.

ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRMAN
In the absence of Chairman O 'Daniel ,
Mrs. Ruby Harris Called for nominations for the office of Vice Chairman.
Mr. W. W. McCormick nominated Mr. George
Scott and moved that Mr. Scott be elected by acclamation. Mrs Zieschang
seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows:
Ayes: Mesdms. Harris, Goss, Zieschang and Mr. McCormick
Nays: None
Abstained: Mr. Scott
Mrs Harris d?clared the motion carried and Mr. Scott duly elected to serve
as Vice Chairman.
(Vice Chairman Scott took the chair at this time. )

LIBRARIAN 'S REPORT,.
MRS, GENEVA ARMSTRONG
Mrs. Armstrong submitted a written report
indicating the circulation record for the calendar year 1969. (Copy of
report on file in Office of the City Secretary. )
Mrs. Armstrong advised that Euless Public
Library's circulation was somewhat larger in proportion than other libraries
of this area.
Mrs. Armstrong reported that a re-
registration program has been initiated at Euless Public Library for the

first time in its history and commented that this has become a larger task
than was anticipated.
Mrs. Armstrong reported on the T. R. L. A.
meeting held on January 16, 1970 and advised that National Library Week will
be observed this year during the week of April 12 through April 18. Mrs.
Armstrong suggested that this week also be observed as "Forgiveness Week",
during which time no fines will be charged for overdue books which are
returned.

DISCUSSION OF SOLUTIONS TO
PROBLEMS OF LOST AND OVERDUE BOOKS
In a discussion of possible methods for
overcoming the problem of lost and overdue books, Mrs. Armstrong advised
that Haltom City Library sends a letter to their patrons, advising them
of the State Law concerning the failure to return library books. Mrs
Armstrong stated that she will obtain a copy of this letter for considera-
tion of the City Manager and Members of the Library BoarL.
Mrs. Zieschang suggested that newspaper
publicity might be helpful -- that the number of overdue books might be
published in a newspaper article.
Mrs. Armstrong agreed to submit these
figures to the Board at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
Mrs. Zieschang moved that "Forgiveness
Week" be observed by Euless Public Library. Mrs. Harris seconded the motion,
and the vote is as follows:
Ayes: Messers. McCormick and Scott, Mesdms. Goss, Zieschang and
Harris
Nays: None
Vice Chairman Scott declared the motion carried.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mrs. Armstrong reported that Voter
Registration forms are available at Euless Public Library at this time and
advised that an article concerning this service is lo appear in the Mid-
Cities Daily News.
Mrs. Armstrong also announced that
copies of the Euless City Charter, City Ordinances and minutes of City
Council meetings are available at Euless Public Library.

NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK
The Librarian distributed literature

pertaining to available materials for National Library Week publicity.
Members of the Board were in agreement
that some of the posters should be obtained for display.

ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Scott moved to adjourn the meeting.
Mrs. Goss seconded the motion, and the
vote is as follows:
Ayes: Mesdms. Harris, Goss and Zieschang, Messers. McCormick
and Scott
Nays: None
Vice Chairman Scott declared the motion carried and adjourned the meeting
at 8:00 P.M.
