August 22, 1968
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Euless Public
Library Board was called to order at 7: 30 P.M. by Chairman Anna Crouch, with the
following members present: Messrs. George Scott and Wayne O'Daniel ; Mesdms.
Ruby Harris, Geneva Armstrong, Librarian and Mrs. Crouch. (Mr. Q'Daniel arrived
at approximately 8:00 P.M.) (Mr. Robert M. Soule was not present because of his
absence from the City on Company business.)
Also present was City Manager C. J. Griggs.
DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED LIBRARY BUDGET
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1968 - 69
The Budget for the Library for the Fiscal
Year 1968-69 was discussed at length with City Manager Griggs. In answer to a
question of an additional employee for the Library, City Manager Griggs advised
that this request had been included in the proposed budget.

REPORT ON COST OF LIBRARY AND FURNISHINGS
The Certified Public Accountant 's Report
on the cost of the Library and its furnishings was presented to the Library Board.
It was noted that the Library Budget was exceeded.
III .
UP-DATING OF THE FIVE YEAR PLAN
There was a discussion of the Five Year
Plan and the progress which has been made by the Library, since the Report was
written. It was suggested that Mrs. Armstrong, Librarian, prepare and present
a written report, up-dating the Five Year Plan.

CLARIFICATION OF STATUS OF
LIBRARY BOARD
Mr. O'Daniel requested that City Manager
Griggs explain Just what the word "Advisory" means to City Officials.
Mr. Griggs stated that "Advisory" is just
what it implies -- that the Board may make recommendations to the Librarian and
the City Council , and they, in turn, decide what action is to be taken.

APPRECIATION TO CITY MANAGER
Chairman Crouch expressed the appreciation
of the Library Board Members for the City Manager's presence at this meeting, stat-
ing that she was aware of his full schedule and conflicting appointments. (Mr.
Griggs left the meeting at this time.)

Mrs. Ruby Harris presented a report on
District VII Trustee Round Table. (Copy of report on file in Office of the City
Secretary.)

MINUTES - "John Wesley and the Christian Ministry" has been placed on the shelf by Mr. A. B.
Page One Lawson, in memory pf the father and brother of former Library Board Member, Mrs.
Library Jym Pollard.
