HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-28 Regular Meeting of the Euless Library Board November 2C, 1967 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Euless Library Board was called to order in the Library Building at 7:45 P. M. by the Chair- man, Mrs. Jack Browne, with the following members in attendance: Mesdms. Browne, Geneva Armstrong and H. C. Harris; Messrs; Wayne (Mantel, Bob Soule and Bob Messer. 1. PLANS FOR DEDICATION OF NEW LIBRARY BUILDING Plans for formal dedication of the new library facility were finalized. It was determined that the dedication ceremonies should begin at 2:00 P. M. on December 3, 1967, and that an invitation should be extended to Doctor Dorman Winfrey, State Librarian, to present the dedica- tory address and to Mr. A. G. Schlossstein, Friends of the Libraries of Texas, to act as Master of Ceremonies on this occasion. II. POLICIES. RULES AND REGULATIONS EULESS LIBRARY BUILDING Following a lengthy discussion, it was determined that Mrs. Browne would prepare a draft of rules and regulations, as discussed, to be mailed to all Members of the Board for their consideration. It was suggested that each member return his copy, noting any changes or comments, prior to the January meeting of the Library Board and that a copy be attached to the minutes. Mrs. Armstrong raised a question concern- ing smoking in the library. Following a discussion, Reverend Messer made the motion to request the opinion of the Fire Marshall in this matter and to contact members of T. R. L. A. in an effort to determine the rules regarding smoking in other libraries. Mr. Soule seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows: Ayes: i•lesdms. Browne and Harris; Messrs. O'Daniel, Soule and Messer Nays: None Mrs. Browne declared the motion carried, and Mrs. Armstrong was requested to secure this information prior to the next meeting of the Library Board. Pa•e Two Re.uiar Meetin of the Euless Librar Board, November 26 1967) III . REPORT: TEXAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION TRUSTEE ORGANIZATION MEETING, MR. BOB SOULE Mr. Bob Soule, who attended the Texas Library Association Organization Meeting in Dallas, as a representative for the Euless Library Board, reported that he was made a member of the nominat- ing committee for that organization. Mr. Soule advised that the nominating committee will submit letters to each Board Chairman in the District, request- ing nominations, and that he had promised the full cooperation of the Euless Library Board in establishing this most worthwhile organization. IV. SETTING FEE TO BE CHARGED FOR USE OF COPY MACHINE Following a discussion of the proposed fee to be charged for use of the copy machine, Members of the Board were in agreement to recommend a fee of ten cents (100) per copy, regardless of size. V. DECEMBER MEETING Mr. Soule made the motion to cancel the meeting of the Euless Library Board which is scheduled for December 2, 1967. Mr. O'Daniel seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Mesdms. Browne and Harris; Messrs. O'Daniel , Soule and Messer Nays: None Mrs. Browne declared the motion carried. VI . USE OF THE MEETING ROOM, EULESS PUBLIC LIBRARY Reverend Messer made the motion to refer all requests for use of the Meeting Room in Euless Public Library to City Secretary Vada Ferris. Mr. Bob Soule seconded the motion, and the vote is as follows: Ayes: Mesdms. Browne and Harris; Messrs. Soule, O'Daniel and Messer Nays: None Mrs. Browne declared the motion carried. REQUEST FOR DRAPERIES, LIBRARIAN'S OFFICE Mrs. Armstrong, Librarian, requested the installation of draperies in her office, for reasons of privacy they would afford. Members of the Board agreed to take this matter into consideration and to make a recommendation to the City Manager at a future date. VIII . ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 9:15 P. M.
