HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-05-04 May 1967 The Euless Library Board met in the library May L, 1967 at 7:30 P. M. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Broom Chairman. Minutes were read and approved. Mrs. Harvey Harris was nominated for the vacancy of Secretary by Mr. O'Daniel, motion was seconded bt Mrs. Armstrong. Motion carried and MSrs. Harris was named Secretary. Firs. Pollard was nominated for the vacancy of Historian by sirs. Harris seconde? hy 'i " r_,i , Motion carried and Mrs. hollard was named Historian. The Book Seclection lorkshop, to be conducted in Euless by Miss :.n to Decker May 19, was discussed and plans finalized. Mfrs. Browne read a letter of an reciation from the City of Euless to the Board, thanking them for their help in the groundbreaking and their continued efforts for the library. Also, a letter from the City of Euless regarding the aprointrent of Prs. Pollard to the Board and the re-ao -oi :tment of Mr. Musser and Mr ra :r another term, which :-�1i_f e:o:ire Ahril 1969. k's. Broome then reported the foundation on the new library building had been Poured and work is Proceeding on schedule. She then read s letter from mass Burson etvoressing thanks for invitation to the _groundbreaking. And reported Miss Burson had called to say she would be in Euless Tuesday for a conference with Mrs. .armstron and Mrs. Broome regarding the policy making report she is doing. Mfrs. Browne then gave the re _ort of Mr. Jarvis regarding the nro,osed music listening center for the new library. He reports should. have f ind.i_,gs in the near future. She then rehorted on the meeting in Ft. aior h with the Tarrant County Library Study Committee acnointed by Judge Green to study the needs for adhitional financial aid to county libraries, which she and Mayor Fuller attended. The T. R. L. A. committee suggested an amount of 33¢ per cacita to the committee. The Manor has suggested the Board change their By-Laws, so that a Board appointed committee would anrrove all future book reeuisition before it is submitted. Mr. (Mantel and Mr. Messer were nominated by Mrs. Harris for this committee and seconded Ire Mrs. ''ollard, motion carried and they were so appointed. Mrs. :xmstrong asked that if there are any cuestions regarding .aparoval of book recuisitions, the matter be brought before the whole Baard at a called meeting. This was agbeed Aron b,s he Board. Maylor Fuller recommended we try very hard to reactivate the Mends of the Library in a reouhst to Mrs.Bro ne also that we consider hay nE all. contri- butions to the Library go to the Friends and they be response for _ur are May 19c7 - Page 2 of books and appropriate name plates for same. Mrs. Browne suggested the Friends be asked to furnish refreshments for the meeting of the Friends reactivating meeting on May 8 in the Library.
