June 13, 2011
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. The meeting was held at City Hall at 201
North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Michele Burger, Joe Cannon, Barbara Collier, Helen Gleghorn, Veva Lou Massey, Robert Nail, Perry
Brockmeyer, Leah Bennett, Weldon Cannon, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend, James Gathings, Bill Golden,
David Massey, Iva Nail, Helen Payton, Mavy Wright, Donna Mickan, Bill Byers, and Gary Parker.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Helen Payton made a correction under Status of Current Projects, item #1, last bullet: she indicated that
Bill Byers spoke with Sam Harrington, not Sam Hayes. Also, Gary Parker was present at the last
meeting. Robert Nail made a motion to approve the minutes with the corrections. Gary Parker seconded
the motion, motion approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported a beginning balance of$6,451.89 in May. There was a $100
donation to the Coptic Church and $24.25 was received from the donation jar leaving a balance of
$6,376.14.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Bill Golden thanked David and Veva Lou Massey, Iris Elliott, Mavy Wright, Weldon Cannon, Jan
Bellamy and Barbara Collier for serving as docents during the May open house. It was reported that
twenty-four people toured the facility.
2. Bill Golden also recognized Betty Fuller, Robert and Iva Nail and Faye Stinneford for serving as
docents on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 when the City's senior citizen program toured Heritage Park.
Bill Golden was also present. There were twenty people in the group.
3. Mr. Golden further thanked Bill Byers, Jan Bellamy, Perry Brockmeyer and Gary Fieldsend for
serving as docents during open house on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Only one person toured the
facility that day.

4. The City's summer camp program will be touring on July 5 & July 7, 2011. Barbara Collier, Gary
Parker and Michele Burger volunteered to docent on July 5. Michele Berger, Donna Mickan, Jan
Bellamy and Robert Nail volunteered to docent on July 7.
5. Dan and Michele Burger (1-3 p.m.), Barbara Collier and Helen Payton (3-5 p.m.) volunteered to
docent during open house on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Bill Golden will also be on site.
6. Gary Fieldsend (1-3 p.m.), Barbara Collier (1-3 p.m.) and David and Veva Lou Massey (3-5 p.m.)
volunteered to docent during open house on Saturday, August 13, 2011.
7. Iris Elliott(1-3 p.m.), Michele Burger(1-3 p.m.) and David and Veva Lou Massey (3-5 p.m.)
volunteered to docent during open house on Saturday, September 10, 2011.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition Sub-committee:
• Council Member Leon Hogg offered to donate his parents old bedroom set which includes the
headboard, footboard, frame, dresser, chest of drawers and mirror. Mr. Hogg's parents bought
the set in 1934 used, making it at least 77 years old. The Committee accepted the donation. Mr.
Hogg made the donation with the stipulation that the set be kept intact and if the Committee
ever decides it no longer wants to keep the set, everything must be returned to his heirs. The set
may not be separated, sold or given away by the Committee. Mr. Hogg will have the set
delivered to the Fuller House.
• Helen Payton has an old bed she would like to donate. The bed doesn't have a mattress.
• Michele Burger has furniture she would like to donate. She also has several other items to
donate including a display tree with hooks and another one with lights.
• Barbara Collier has a 1930's plow in Oklahoma she offered to donate. Bill Byers will talk to
Harvey Little about possibly picking up the plow. After a brief discussion, Helen Payton made a
motion for the Committee to spend up to $200 to pick up the plow. Veva Lou Massey seconded
the motion. No one opposed, motion approved.
2. Website/Library Photo Display: Gary Fieldsend replaced the broken glass on the Library display
frame. He also reported on activities in the Flickr account. Mr. Fieldsend asked for members'
photos to scan for the photo project. The photos will be returned back to the members as soon as
possible.
3. Photo Album Sub-committee: Several members would like to have copies of the photo albums
made and displayed for the public's viewing.
4. Ruth Millican Center: The idea of painting a timeline mural of Euless history on the lobby wall was
discussed. The Trinity High School IB program may help with the project.
5. McCormick Barn and Outdoor: Ray McDonald will be meeting with some of the members to look
over the new lighting system in the barn.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported and/or discussed the following:
• Reported that Betty Fuller, Don Martin and Helen Voss weren't able to attend today's meeting.
• Reported that the hundred dollar donation to the Coptic Church has been sent.
• Will continue attempting to make contact with Faye Stinneford's friend regarding the dresser.

• Would like to acquire the Blue Jay from the property off of Highway 10 for Heritage Park.
• Reported that the pump organ has been delivered to the Ruth Millican Center. It looks great.
• Reported that the Boy Scouts volunteered to help the Committee. They may be able to help with
the display cabinets as well as other projects.
• Noted that two mattresses and box springs are needed for both Mr. Hogg and Helen Payton's
beds. Staff will include a request in Euless Today for box springs and beds.
• Thanked the staff for all their support.
STAFF REPORT
1. Gary McKamie discussed with the group several items pertaining to
OTHER REPORTS
1. Weldon Cannon asked if photographs of the building progress of the Greek Orthodox Church could
be taken for the records. It was also noted that photos of the development on Highway 360 and 183
would also be good to have for the records.
2. Council Member Donna Mickan thought the write up Weldon Cannon wrote about the Union
Cumberland Presbyterian Church very interesting. She reminisced about attending the service at the
old Presbyterian Church that used to meet in the Simmons Center.
3. Council Member Donna Mickan also inquired if the Committee thought it appropriate to send a
note to the Coptic Church expressing care with regards to a bombing that occurred to the Coptic
Church in Egypt. The members thought it appropriate. Mrs. Mickan will write the note.
4. Weldon Cannon reported the following:
• Recently attended a Bear Creek Cemetery Association meeting. The Association asked if it was
possible for the City to have a sign posted near the highway indicating the cemetery's presence.
• Will be meeting with Betty Porter of the Birdville Museum regarding a church directory project
of the Birdville area.
• Found that copies of the Mid-Cities Daily News from about 1960 to 1997 are on microfilm at
the Hurst Public Library. This is an excellent source of information where death notices and
other events in the area may be recorded. Barbara Collier will go during summer and look at the
microfilm.
5. Michele Burger reported that the wishing well on Simmons Drive has been restored by the owners
and it looks great. The owner was able to acquire all the materials via donations.
ADJOURNMENT
David Massey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Iris Elliott seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
