HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-03-05 • CITY OF EULESS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION March 5, 1997 MINUTES The City of Euless Civil Service Commission was called to order on Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at 4:11 p.m. by Chairman Marland Ernest. Commission Members Present Marland Ernest Willie Mae McCormick Nell Hicks Jud Park, Alternate Albert Simmenroth,Alternate Staff Members Present Tom Cox, Director of Support Services Ruth Alley, Personnel Manager Anniece McKanna, Personnel Technician/Civil Service Secretary Paul Wieneskie, Assistant City Attorney Others Present Tommy Powell Rebecca Powell The invocation was given by Chairman Ernest. The regular open meeting was convened by Chairman Ernest. Mr. Wieneskie explained that the purpose of the meeting was to determine the validity of Mr. Powell's appeal regarding employment termination. He further explained that there would be a deviation from the agenda because the City of Euless Civil Service Rules and Regulations stipulate that a hearing must be held within fifteen (15) days of the Commission's decision to hear the appeal. If a hearing is warranted, a hearing date will be set and notice will be sent to all parties concerned. Civil Service Commission Minutes - March 5, 1997 Page 2 The meeting was recessed into closed session at 4:16 p.m. The meeting reconvened in open session at 4:40 p.m. to rule on the validity of the appeal. Commissioner Ernest asked for a motion to consider hearing the appeal and scheduling a date for the hearing. Mrs. McCormick clarified that the Commission had made a determination that the appeal was valid. She made a motion to hear the appeal and to set the hearing date for 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 1997. Mrs. Hicks seconded the motion. Ayes: Ernest, McCormick, Hicks Nays: None Motion carried.
