HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-09-30 • CITYOF' EUESS CIVIL SERVICE LION September 30, 1994 MINUTES The City of Euless Civil Service Commission was called to order on Friday, September 30, 1994 at 3:15 p.m. by Commissioner Willie Mae McCormick, acting as Chairperson in the absence of Chairman Marland Ernest. Commission Members Present Willie Mae McCormick Nell-Hicks Reverend Dan Williams Staff Members Present Debra Forte', Director Fiscal & Human Resources Ruth Alley, Personnel Manager Alice Cahill, Civil Service Secretary Paul Wieneskie, Assistant City Attorney The invocation was given by Reverend Williams. The regular open meeting convened. The meeting was recessed into executive session pursuant to Section 551.071 "Contemplated Litigation" of the Texas Government Code; and Section 551.075, Texas Government Code to Receive Orientation and Legal Briefing on Rules and Procedures for New Commission Members. The meeting then reconvened in open session at 3:35 p.m. Mrs. Hicks made a motion to nominate Mrs. McCormick as Chairperson for the duration of Marland Ernest's absence; and Reverend Dan Williams to serve as a regular commission member for the duration of Marland Ernest's absence. Reverend Williams seconded the motion. Ayes: McCormick, Hicks, Williams Noes: None Motion carried. Civil Service Commission Minutes - September 30, 1994 page 2 Mrs. McCormick made a motion to approve the Minutes of the February 16, 1994 Civil Service meeting. Mrs. Hicks seconded the motion. Ayes: McCormick, Hicks (Williams abstained) Noes: None Motion carried. The Commission then heard the request for a hearing by Cesario Rodriguez. At 3:37 p.m. the meeting convened in Executive Session pursuant to Sections 551.074-"Personnel Matters", and 551.071, "Contemplative Litigation" of Texas Government Code for deliberation of appeal by Cesario Rodriguez. The meeting was reconvened in Regular Session again at 3:55 p.m. to rule on the validity of the appeal. Mrs. McCormick asked for a motion to uphold the decision to dismiss Mr. Rodriguez; and to deny his request for a formal hearing. Reverend Williams made the motion; Mrs. Hicks seconded the motion. Ayes: McCormick, Williams, Hicks Noes: None Motion carried.
