MINUTES
The City of Euless Civil Service Commission was called to order on
Friday, September 3, 1993 at 12:05 p.m. by Chairman, Glenn Walker.

Willie Mae McCormick
Staff Members Present
Lee Koontz, Fire Chief
Alice Cahill, Civil Service Secretary
Members Absent
Marland Ernest
With two commissioners constituting a quorum, the following business
was conducted.
Approval of Minutes
Mrs. McCormick made a motion to approve the minutes of January 5,
1993. Mr. Walker seconded the motion.
Ayes: Walker, McCormick
Noes: None
Motion carried and minutes approved as read.
NEW BUSINESS:
Request for waiver of thirty-day posting of notice for
Firefighter Entrance Examination.
Section 4.03 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations states
that a notice of examination for police and fire entrance
examinations shall be given thirty (30) days prior to the test
date.
An examination was held on June 3rd, 1993 and the eligibility
list from that exam has been exhausted. Three firefighters have
been hired from this list. There is currently one position for
firefighter vacant.

Chief Koontz asked the Commission to waive the thirty-day notice
for the next exam due to the time restrictions necessary in
filling the current vacancy for firefighter; requesting
permission to advertise from September 7th through the 17th, and
hold the examination on Friday, September 24, 1993.
Mr. Walker asked for a motion to waive the thirty notice
requirement for this examination. Mrs. McCormick made the motion.
Mr. Walker seconded the motion.
Ayes: Walker, McCormick
Noes: None
Motion carried.
Being there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
12:10 p.m.
