HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-06-02 QTY OF EUIESS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MISSION JUne 2, 1992 Special Ong MINUTES CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order by Commissioner Tommy Barnes at 5:01 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 1992. PRESENT Mr. ¶1bnmy Barnes Mrs. Willie Mae McCormick Mr. David Gilfillan Mrs. Debra Forte' , Director Fiscal & Human Resources Mrs. Ruth Alley, Personnel Manager Mrs. Alice Cahill, Civil Service Secretary Mr. Paul Wieneskie, City Attorney Councilman Henry Boatright I. INVOCATION Mr. David Gilfillan gave the invocation. II. ELECTION OF CHAIR Mrs. McCormick made a motion to nominate Zbnmty Barnes as Civil Service Commission Chairman. David Gilfillan seconded the motion. Ayes: McCormick, Gilfillan Noes: None Motion to elect Tommy Barnes as Civil Service Commission Chairman carried. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. Tabled Minutes of August 27, 1991 until the next meeting to be held on June 9, 1992. B. The Minutes of February 14, 1992 were approved as read. NEW BUSINESS At 5:06 p.m. Councilman Boatright was dismissed and the Commission convened in Executive Session to discuss Mr. Michael Privitt's request for a formal hearing of appeal as per V.T.C.S. Art. 6252-17 Section 2(g) . At 5:48 p.m. the Commission reconvened in open session. Mr. Gilfillan made a motion to: 1. Declare the appeal valid and set a date for a formal hearing, and 2. In the interim The Commission will request the matter be referred back to the Police Department for the following of procedures as alleged were not followed, first and foremost being a signed statement from the complainant. Mrs. MbCOrmick seconded the motion. Ayes: Gilfillan, McCormick, Barnes Noes: None Motion carried. The Commission scheduled the hearing of Mr. Privitt's appeal for Tuesday, June 16, 1992 at 5:00 p.m. V.
