Example: At 5 years, ten (10) days vacation is available to be used. At 6 years, fifteen (15) days vacation is available to be used. Due to the shift differential for Firefighters, the following accrual rates for vacation will apply: 1 - 15 years @ 6.92 hours per pay period 16 + years @ 9.23 hours per pay period] A. poog yly [Directors] and pXyX 00/ OFO [Managers] shall schedule vacations giving due consideration to the needs of the service and the ability of the remaining staff to perform the work of the division. Upon termination of service with the City, voluntarily or otherwise, an employee who has completed one year of service shall be paid all unused vacation leave to date of termination, but in no event to exceed two years of 000000x000/000. E. No cash payment for unused vacation leave shall be made except upon termination, retirement or death of an employee. Sick leave days shall be used for absences during the regularly scheduled work week due to disability resulting from illness or injury, to the extent of the total number of days the employee has accumulated, and any other requirements are met. Pay for each day of sick leave utilized will be calculated at the employee's straight time hourly rate. After an employee's accumulated sick leave has been exhausted, unused vacation leave or compensatory time off may be used as sick leave when requested. When absence due to illness exceeds the amount of paid leave earned and authorized, the employee shall be placed on leave of absence without pay. F. Employees who become ill during the period of their vacation may request that their vacation be temporarily terminated and their time charged to sick leave. Vacation days unused may then be taken later in the year at such time as may be designated by the employee's 0000 gljt/ tg [Director or Manager.] G. Sick leave may be used for medical, dental or ocular appointments when immediate attention is required. On separation from the service of the City, voluntarily or otherwise, no employee shall receive any pay for any accumulated sick leave. I. Sick leave shall be for the purpose of permitting an employee to be relieved of his duties during actual illness /OW /T /00 MOO MVO /AY/MO /OX��/ [of himself or his dependents. Sick leave may also be used for visits to the doctor or dentist and when an employee's dependent is ill or incapacitated and requires the employee's care or presence. For the purpose of authorizing sick leave, see dependent in "Definitions". ] Employees who use their sick leave without just cause as it is earned, or fail to accumulate it may be dismissed from the service. A y y//0//p0000// 0 [Director or Manager] may require of an employee a signed statement from a licensed physician attesting to any illness of such employee [or his dependent] for which sick leave is used. The supervisor may also request a physician's note at Any time. ] J. No City employee shall be entitled to sick leave while absent from duty on account of the following causes: 1. Disability arising from any sickness or injury purposely inflicted or caused by willful misconduct. 2. Sickness or disability sustained while on leave of absence without pay. 3. Disability acquired as a result of [gainful employment] [in] another job. 4. Ordinary tiredness or restlessness. RM.k!!1NDED AMITICN ID SICK LEAVE - INCENTIVE - [R. As an incentive to not use sick time, the following schedule of Personal Leave Days will be granted. If an employee uses: 0 sick days = employee earns 3 Personal Leave Days 1 sick day = employee earns 2 Personal Leave Days 2 sick days = employee earns 1 Personal Leave Day The following schedule applies to Firefighters. If a firefighter uses: 0 firefighter shifts = firefighter earns 1 1/2 shifts 1 firefighter shift = firefighter earns 1 shift 2 firefighter shifts = firefighter earns 1/2 shift Only employees who have completed one (1) year of full-time service will be eligible to participate in the program. If the employee does not use his earned Personal Leave day(s) within one year, the Personal Leave day(s) will be converted back to Sick Leave. SECTION 10.04 - OCCUPNITONAL DISABILITY CR INJURY LENY /I4 )ICAL CARE be approved to reed as follows: An employee injured in the course of his employment shall be granted occupational disability or injury leave and medical aid and hospital services as prescribed by the Texas Workman's Compensation Act. All employees while on occupational injury or disability leave shall continue to earn vacation and sick leave at the regular rate. B. The supervisor will direct the employee to obtain the necessary medical treatment. ] C. When an employee is injured on the job, the job foreman or supervisor shall complete the 000000X/0 00W [First Report of Injury] required by the Workman's Compensation Act within the time limits established. Subsequent reports must be filed according to the Act. Where an accident causes serious bodily injury or death to an employee, the 0000/Hoto [Director] and the p000000x [Insurance] Department must be notified immediately. D. The employee shall have the sole right to select or choose the persons or facilities to furnish medical aid, chiropractic services, hospital services and nursing. However, if the employee wishes, the City may make such selection for him. Emergency treatment is to be obtained from the hospital designated by the City Manager. E. An employee who is able to return to work in light duty status may be required to work in a different department and perform duties not contained within his current classification. F. It is the responsibility of the employee to contact his supervisor while he is on occupational injury leave at least once every five *wog [business] days, if he is physically able to do so. G. Injury leave shall be limited to six (6) months. This leave may be extended by the City Manager/City Council at their discretion. H. An employee who has been off work due to an on-the-job injury for any length of time; or any employee who is off work for more than three (3) days for a non-job related injury, will be required to get a doctor's full release, and then take and pass a physical examination before returning to work status. (Except for firefighters who must get a full release after f `/Xf X/¢1gyg/off [two (2) shifts off].) The examination will be performed by the physician designated by the City and will be paid for by the City.] R®(X!!IENDED REVISICK: Emammant LEAVE POLICY SECTION 10.17 - SAY LEAVE A. An employee may, with the consent of his Op p L/ I0 [Manager], be allowed time off og [up] to WOO [three (3) consecutive] working days [(ar 1 1/2 Fireficttec' shifts) per incident] in each current year when his presence is required to be with his immediate family on account of death or serious illness. [An employee may be allowed up to seven more days (or 3 1/2 Firefighter shifts) with the Director's approval.] This leave shall be with pay but shall not be granted until the employee has one year of continuous service. B. Directors may require satisfactory proof of illness O`/ for attending a member of the immediate family and may disallow family illness leave in the absence of such proof. Employees who use their Emergvency Leave for family illness without just cause may be dismissed from employment. SECTION 10.18.C.1 - CCNPS TICK - Uniform Allowance: This section has again been tabled far further discussion pending legal counsel, and discussion with Directors. 1. Uniform Allowance - The City will provide for uniforms, special clothing, safety equipment and cleaning services in certain departments. Since these requirements change from time to time it is not possible to be specific. Generally, these allowances are limited to the Department of Public Safety (Fire and Police) , however, other departments will extend this allowance to some degree. Employees should refer to their supervisor for the specific applicability of this allowance to their assignment. The City reserves the right to issue, suspend or revoke this special allowance at any time to any employee where no conflict exists with preemptive law. .
