HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-01-07 Euless Civil Service Commission Work Session January 7, 1977 Euless City Hall 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wray at 3:00 P.M. Present were Chairman W. L. Wray, Commissioner Frank Douglass and Commissioner Bill Wagner. Also present, City Manager, W. M. Sustaire, and Personnel Secretary, Ruth Alley. 2. Discussion of Civil Service Rules and Regulations The meeting was held to discuss the Civil Service Rules and Regulations regarding corrections, the probationary period for Police Officers, extension of eligibility list for the Fire Department, and tuition that would be paid by the City. 3. Civil Service Rules and Regulations Reflecting Changes The Commission requested that when a change has been made in the Rules and Regulations the bottom of the page reflect the change by stating re vision and the date. Also a sheet will be added to the front of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations reflecting the changes. 4. Correction There are some corrections that need to be noted on pages 2, 25, 34, 47, and 50. Please see attached sheets. Corrections are underlined. (Additional Definition) : Page 9, 2.45. . .Receipt of appeal and formal grievance, by the Civil Service Commission is accomplished when correspon- dence is received by the Personnel and/or Civil Service Officer. 5. Probation Period for Police Officers Chapter Seven (7) , page 25, Chief Harold Smith, Euless Police Department, requested an extension of the probationary period for Police Officers. The Commission recommended that Police Officers serve a probationary period for six (6) months from the date of employment or for six (6) months after completion of Police Academy, whichever comes later: (see page 25, 7.04-A Probation Period) . 6. Eligibility List for Fire Department Chief John Scott, Euless Fire Department, requested an extension of their eligibility list for six (6) months. Motion was made by Bill Wagner to set aside the rule and extend the present eligibility list for six (6) months. Mr. Frank Douglass seconded the motion. Motion was passed. Mr. Sustaire will make recommendation to the City Council to set aside the rules and extend the present eligibility list for six (6) months. (Page Two, Euless Civil Service Commission Work Session, January 7, 1977) 7. Tuition On page 39, Compensation, 10. 18, C-2, (to be added) Tax Supported. 8. Submission of Corrected Personnel Rules and Regulations for Council Information It was the unanimous decision of the Commission to recommend the Civil Service Personnel Rules and Regulations, as corrected, to the City Council for their information. 9. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00 P.M.
