Dear Citizens,
At the time of this writing at the end of March, the City of Euless, along with Tarrant County and the State of Texas have taken
unprecedented and aggressive action to respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and help keep our residents safe. We
understand the rapidly evolving nature of this situation has created a lot of anxiety for our residents and businesses and we are
thankful for everyone’s willingness and ability to adapt. I appreciate everyone following the recommendations. For the latest
information regarding this continually changing situation, please visit our website at www.eulesstx.gov/coronavirus.
Though this virus has forced changes to our lives and livelihood, we are a great community and together we must all do our
part to slow the spread. Please continue to listen to the advice given by public health officials and incorporate it into your daily,
family and business lives.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and state and local emergency declarations put in place to help stop the spread of the disease, the Euless City
Council voted to postpone the May 2, 2020 General Election and Special Election for the Crime Control and Prevention District. The election will
move to the next uniform election date, occurring on November 3, 2020, unless an earlier date occurring after May 2 is authorized by the Governor.
We realize that during these unusual times some may be experiencing needs out of the ordinary. The 2-1-1 helpline is staffed 24/7 to assist Texans
with needs that may arise such as food, housing, utilities, health, etc. You can also use their online system to search for resources as well at

This year, we are presenting the Volunteer of the Year
award to two deserving pet lovers, Aimee Lanter and
Jesica King. Aimee is a Science and Biology teacher
at Trimble Tech High School. Every Thursday evening
you can find her at the Euless library with Sucha, her Pet
Partners therapy dog. “Read With Sucha” is a program
that helps young children practice their reading skills
in a judgment-free zone. Children from kindergarten
through sixth grade are encouraged to read to Sucha,
which helps decrease their anxiety and improve their
attitude and motivation to read.
Aimee makes sure the children understand Sucha’s
purpose and that she’s working, while also giving them
permission to interact with and “love on her.” Being an
educator, Aimee holds Sucha and the students to high
behavior standards and she is great at organizing and
managing the program.
Volunteers of the Year – Aimee Lanter and Jesica King
Jesica King, our second Volunteer of the Year, has
made a huge impact on the Euless Animal Shelter by
using social media. Jesica volunteers at the shelter
every day it’s open. She has reunited pets with their
owners and helped stray dogs and cats find forever
homes. She does this by taking their photographs
and posting them on various Facebook “Lost and
Found” groups.
Besides answering questions about the animals,
being focused on finding foster and potential adoptive
families for all the animals, she’s also the “go to”
person when it comes to recruiting volunteers. A
fellow volunteer describes Jesica this way, “I admire
her for her endless efforts and genuine love for all
animals and her concern for their well-being.
The City of Euless is so fortunate to have such a strong, loyal group of volunteers that help us with everything
from the Euless Animal Shelter to the Zoning Board of Adjustments. We would not be able to host our great
events, run meetings or even bring smiles to as many faces without them. They volunteer their time without
asking for anything in return. The City of Euless honors volunteers each year to celebrate the dedication and
service of these outstanding people.

We are happy to bestow the Lifetime Achievement
Award to Richard McNeese, who has been serving
the City of Euless for over 35 years. He first became
interested in serving on the Parks Board in 1984,
because of his involvement with youth sports. As
a father of two, Richard was once a youth baseball,
soccer, basketball and girls’ softball coach.
Richard is now a member of the Planning and Zoning
Board. “Richard is very dependable and takes his
responsibilities very seriously,” says Mike Collins,
Director of Planning/Economic Development.
Richard’s accomplishments include:
• Planning & Zoning Board since 1999
• Parks and Leisure Services Board from 1984-1999
• Capital Improvement Advisory Committee
• Tree Board Chairman
• Park Board Chairman
Richard and his wife have been married for
over 50 years. They have two children and five
grandchildren. “I love the City and have a sincere
desire to serve,” says Richard. “I am committed
to working to keep Euless as a wonderful place to
live.”
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners! We
highly value the contributions of these volunteers
and appreciate their love and dedication for Euless.
Thank you for choosing to spend your time and
energy to help make our city great!

Volunteer Business of the
Year – Green’s Texas BBQ
The Youth of the Year award goes to Tiffany Glasford, a High School Junior who has been
volunteering for the HEB Teen Court since seventh
grade. She has been a bailiff, a clerk and even a teen
court attorney. Tiffany has also participated in the
statewide Teen Court Competition, which requires
extra hours of practice and spending an entire
Saturday with the HEB team at the actual event. A
fast learner, Tiffany gladly shares her knowledge
with the other teen volunteers. Even though she is
involved with high school band, she always finds the time to volunteer with the HEB Teen Court.

We are happy to give the Volunteer Business of
the Year award to Green’s Texas BBQ. A long-time
supporter of the Euless community, owner Donnie
Green frequently donates his time and food to special
events. For instance, the past two years Green’s Texas
BBQ has catered the Senior Holiday Luncheon,
serving over 300 people at each event. Donnie has
also donated food for: the Summer Picnic Potluck,
Trinity High School’s football team, mission trips,
church youth camps and more. Donnie has a huge
heart for this community and loves to give back,
even though that means starting to cook at 6:00 in
the morning to serve lunch to others.
Volunteer Group Award –
Euless Junior High
We are glad to give the Volunteer Group Award
to Principal Sonya Stanton and students of Euless
Junior High. Each spring, they volunteer to clean
up with a creek or green space in Euless. They are
consistently one of the first groups to sign up for
cleanup and can easily fill over 60 spots right away.
Leading by example, the principal and faculty
inspire the children by getting knee deep in the brush
with weed-eaters and lawn mowers. Even though everyone is working hard, the staff does a great job of making the experience fun for the students. And, the students show up with a great attitude and the earnest desire to help.
