DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the September 1, 2011 minutes. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Vice-Chairman Barney Snitz welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg, LuAnn Portugal, and Loretta Doty to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Kate reported that Marcia Brown and Beverly Leake would not be at the meeting. Kate presented the statistics. Circulation is down from last year probably due to the fact that the Bedford Library was closed this time last year. Our wireless internet count continues to be strong, we continue to have increases in new library cards, our database statistics are good, and we will be adding Resume Maker soon. Handicap parking spots are being worked on to meet ADA requirements. Downloadable books continue to be a problem but we hope to have the issues worked out soon. Dave Walser was here on September 26th and we had 63 in attendance. Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale will be October 14, 15, and 16. Teen Read Week is October 16 through October 22 with several events including an author visit with Rosemary Clement-Moore. Flutissimo will perform in front of"Blooms of Enlightenment" on Sunday, October 30th at 2:00p.m. The Library Security Guard, Russell Carter, is Employee of the Month for October. Crud Day is Saturday, October 8th from 7:00am to 11:30pm in the north library parking lot. Page 2 Library Board Minutes October 6,2011 DISCUSSIONS: 1. Mike McGehee reports that he and Betty Fuller are up for re-appointment to the Library Board, and Adriane Weinstein will be leaving the board and moving to North Carolina. 2. Barney Snitz reports that the Fire Department and Police Department open house is this month. 3. Allan Gibbs shared some comments on the article "The Little Library That Could" and that he will be helping with the Friends of the Library book sale. 4. Adriane Weinstein shared with the board how much she has enjoyed being a part of the Library Board. CITIZEN INPUT: LuAnn Portugal commented on: 1. The Riverwalk Project 2. Masterworks Programs Councilman Hogg commented on: 1. Raising Canes 2. Old Blockbuster building at Main and Harwood 3. Riverwalk Project 4. Hwy 183 expansion 5. Hwy 10 overlay project ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by Chris McAllister.
