Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of
November 3, 2011. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Betty Fuller seconded the
motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed the guests to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate Lyon welcomed the guests and our new board member, Loretta Doty.
Kate presented the statistics. December was slower than most months but the stats are still very good.
Staff News: Sherry Knight has been promoted to Senior Librarian in the Reference Department. Susan Neal,
Senior Librarian in Reference, retired at the end of December. We begin interviews this month for Sherry's
replacement in the Youth Department.
Kate distributed the schedule for the 2012 Masterworks programs. Brian Burns will be the first performance on
February 13 at 7:00pm.
OneClickdigital audio books are up and running again. Kate shared the handout with the board.
The City of Euless sponsored over 300 children through 6 Stones during the Christmas holidays. The library
staff raised $1000.00 and sponsored 20 of the children. In addition to the money raised by the staff we also
donated food items for the families of the children we supported.
Election of Officers for 2012
Mike McGehee turned the Election of Chairman of the Library Board over to Kate Lyon to open up
nominations.
Kate Lyon handed out nomination forms to the board members. Nominations by the majority of the board for
Chairman: Chris McAllister and Mike McGehee.

Chris McAllister declined the nomination and nominated Mike McGehee by acclamation. Marcia Brown
seconded. The board members voted unanimously for Mike McGehee for Chairman of the Library Board for
2012.
Nominations by majority of the board for Vice-Chairman of the Library Board for 2012: Barney Snitz and
Chris McAllister. Chris McAllister declined the nomination and nominated Barney Snitz by acclamation.
Beverly Leake seconded. The board members voted unanimously for Barney Snitz for Vice-Chairman of the
Library Board for 2012.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee welcomed Loretta Doty to the board and said he was glad to have everyone
returning to the board.
2. Mike McGehee reported that the art project continues at a slow pace.
3. Chris McAllister reported how nice the holiday displays were in the library.
4. Barney Snitz inquired about an updated Organization Chart for the library. Kate will have a new
chart for the board after we select the new Youth Librarian.
5. Barney Snitz complimented the newsletter.
6. Allan Gibbs would like to recognize the library staff with an appreciation lunch. Kate Lyon
suggested to wait until April around National Library Workers Day.
CITIZEN INPUT:
1. LuAnn Portugal shared with the board that since the last time she was here she volunteered at the
Susan G. Komen 3-day event.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by Beverly
Leake. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50pm
