Parks and Leisure Services Board
April 2, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, April 2, 2012, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Eric
Owens. Other Board Members present: Carroll Scott, John Raab, Darrel Knobloch, Randy Jones,
Travis Riffle and alternates Tiffany Smith and Carl Miller. Members absent: none.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks
Superintendent Terry Boaz, Parks Manager Randy Smith, Recreation Superintendent Michael
Davenport and Administrative Secretary Linda Lux.
Visitors present: Council Member Leon Hogg and Teresia Foreman and family.
INVOCATION
Randy Jones gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Owens asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the March
5, 2012 regular meeting. Darrel Knobloch made the motion to approve the minutes as presented
and was seconded by Randy Jones. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member's Reports
Carroll Scott—McCormick Park, Preserve at McCormick Park—reported no items of concern
Travis Riffle— Reflection Park, Villages of Bear Creek Park— reported no items of concern
John Raab - Parks at Texas Star Athletic Complex— reported no items of concern
Randy Jones - Midway Park, Blessing Branch Park— reported no items of concern

Darrel Knobloch - Bob Eden Park, Trailwood Park— reported no items of concern
Tiffany Smith —West Park, Wilshire Park— reported no items of concern
Carl Miller—South Euless, Heritage Park- reported no items of concern
Eric Owens—J. A. Carr Park, Kiddie Carr Park—reported no items of concern
Chairman Owens highlighted some upcoming Special Events for March and April:
• March 12th—Tarrant Area Food Bank—22 participated in the event
• April 14th—Texas Trash Off—9:00 to Noon —Villages of Bear Creek Park
• April 28th & 29th—Arbor Daze
Chairman Owens thanked everyone for their reports tonight.
II. Volunteer of the Month
Chairman Owens presented the April 2012 Volunteer of the Month plaque to Teresia Foreman
and her family. Our April nomination is a lady that has been a part of our Family of Volunteers for
several years, and through the years she has volunteered for numerous amounts of special
events. Teresia contacted the PACS Department and volunteered to stuff all the "goodie bags" for
the upcoming 2012 Greet the Soldiers event. Teresia and her family stuffed at least 600 bags for
the event on their own. So in honor of their generous and giving attitude, and their dedication to
our department we would like to recognize Teresia Foreman and Family as the April 2012
Volunteer of the Month. Teresia thanked the Board Members and the PACS department for the
award tonight.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Carroll Scott reported on the following for March 1st—31St:
• Total man hours-428.00
o 167.00 Horticulture
o 112.00 Forestry
o 140.00 Greenhouse

• There were 38 trees planted and no tree related purchases
IV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Michael Davenport
Recreation Manager Michael Davenport reported on the following:
• Thanked Teresia Foreman for all her years of volunteer service
• New Summer Programs
• Arbor Daze
b. Parks Report— Randy Smith
Parks Manager Randy Smith reported on the following:
• Arbor Daze—free Red Oak trees
• Color change outs
• Drip irrigation system at Kiddie Carr Park
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald reported on the following:
• Landscaping at Police and Library
• EULESS berm at city hall may need to be replaced
• New aquatics facility at Midway Park
• Midway Family Life Center membership fees

There was no input from the audience.

Chairman Owens gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
