MEMBERS STAFF OTHERS Marcia Brown Kate Lyon Councilman Leon Hogg Loretta Doty Jan Hogg Betty Fuller Alyssa Walker Allan Gibbs Beverly Leake-absent Chris McAllister-absent Mike McGehee Barney Snitz-absent Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of February, 2012. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed the guests to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Kate presented the statistics. The statistics are still very strong. Masterworks Program Information: 140 attended the Needfire program on Monday, March 12. Staff News: Suzy Holloway is the new Part-Time Librarian Assistant in Youth. National Library Week activities in the library include: Monday, April 9th jazz group 2Tone will perform in the Meeting Room at 7pm. This program is part of Masterworks. Tuesday, April 10th Knit/Crochet 101 at 10:30am in the Meeting Room; "Building Common Ground" at the ESL Conversation Class at 7:00pm Tuesday, April 10th the Mayor will present and read the National Library Week Proclamation at the City Council Meeting at 7:00pm. Wednesday, April 11th the 7th Annual Staff Edible Book Contest judging will be at 4:00pm in the Board Room. Wednesday, April 11th the Library Board will have lunch delivered from Central Market for the library staff. Friday, April 13th at noon Discover Sources for Free e-books in the Reference Department. All Week we have a contest to win a Movie Package with the movie "Hugo", movie passes, candy and popcorn; and a drawing for a cookbook and gift bag. Page 2 Library Board Minutes April 5, 2012 LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT-CONTINUED Kate Lyon reported on: The library closings for April Youth Department will participate at Arbor Daze Kid's Zone DISCUSSIONS: 1. Allan Gibbs reported on his recent trip with the Rotary Club to Nicaragua 2. Loretta Doty informed the board of the Police Department Benevolent Golf Tournament that will be held on May 9, 2012. 3. Marcia Brown reported on the challenges at Trinity High School CITIZEN INPUT: 1. Alyssa Walker shared her interest to get involved with the library as a volunteer. Kate gave her information on the Euless Library Foundation. 2. Councilman Hogg reported on: • Reclaimed water on Fuller Wiser • Upcoming elections • Status of Glade Park • Homes on the old McCormick property • Groundbreaking at Trinity High School and Bell High School on April 11th ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Loretta Doty.
