HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-06-14 Town Hall Meeting MinutesTam HALL M L T OV IG EULESS ant Y HALL THURSDAY, ^ Y, JJUNE 14, 2012 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Mary Lib Saleh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. COLJNCOL AND STAFF Cu ']E[ BERS PRESEV\IT Mayor Mary Lib Saleh, Mayor Pro Tem Donna Mickan, Council Members Tim Stinneford, Linda Martin, Glenn Porterfield, and Perry Bynum participated in the panel along with City Manager Gary McKamie and Deputy City Manager Loretta Getchelk Additional staff members present included: City Secretary Kim Sutter, Assistant City Manager Chris Barker, Police Chief Mike Brown, Fire Chief Wes Rhodes, Director of Finance Vicki Rodriquez, Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Director of Public Works and Engineering Ron Young, Assistant Police Chief Bob Freeman, Police Captains Gary Landers, Steve Eskew and Steve Kockos, Police Lieutenant Eric Starnes, Neighborhood Police Officer James Gordon, Code Compliance Inspectors Brian McGarry, Gale "Goose" Wall and Rick Eldredge, Communications and Marketing Manager Betsy Deck, Library Administrator Kate Lyon, Information Services Administrator Dan McLain, and Human Resources Tech Anniece McKanna_ VDSQTORS Anicia Brown, Bill Brown, Chris Brown, David Brown, Lisa Bynum, Charles Cinquemania, Loretta Doty, Darl Easton, Linda Eilenfeldt, Iris Elliott, Bruce German, Jerrie Keller, Joe Mapes, Randell Mickan, George Moore, Magen Morton, Jonathan Stickland, Faye Stinneford, Ron Tipton, Peggy Vandiver, and approximately 30 other citizens. TOMS OF DIISCUSSaON City Manager Gary McKamie welcomed those in attendance. Communications and Marketing Manager Betsy Deck presented a demonstration of the Citizen Response Management system (Access Euless) that will be launched for use by residents to obtain answers to frequently asked questions related to the city government and to submit items of concern to the city 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Deputy City Manager Loretta Getchell presented the overall current fiscal condition of the City and a summary of the budget for Fiscal Year 2012 -2013. Among the items of note was that there is not a proposed increase in the water rates; however, the Trinity River Authority (TRA) has advised that wastewater rates will be increased by 13 cents per 1,000 gallons. Town Hall Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 2 June 14, 2012 Director of Public Works and Engineering Ron Young gave a presentation on the Ash Lane and Gaze Road projects. At this time, attendees were given an opportunity to address questions to the City Council and city staff. Other topics discussed included: ADA ramps and sidewalks Revitalization along SH 10 corridor Status of the Glade Parks development Airing of City Council meetings on cable network and Internet Status of water restrictions /drought Code enforcement Solid Waste and Recycling options Proposed senior housing facility Each of the council members expressed their appreciation for the citizens' attendance and input to the discussion.
