April 9, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at City Hall at 201
North Ector Drive, Euless, TX.
MEMBERS PRESENT
Perry Brockmeyer, Doris Brown, Jan Bellamy, Michele Burger, Bill Byers, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon,
Barbara Collier, Iris Elliott, Betty Fuller, Helen Gleghorn, Bill Golden, Peggy Vandiver,Norma Lively,
Don Martin, David Massey, Shirley Mercer, Robert Nail, Gary Parker, Helen Payton and Mavy Wright.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to approve the minutes. Don Martin seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported that the balance on March 12, 2012 was $6,483.60. $20.75 was
collected from the donation jar making the balance on April 9, 2012, $6,504.35.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Docent reports for open house and special tours:
a. Iris Elliot, Helen Voss, Barbara Collier, Peggy Vandiver, Helen Payton and Bill Golden volunteered
to docent during open house on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
b. Joe Cannon (1-3pm), David and Veva Lou Massey (1-3pm), Barbara Collier (3-5pm), Norma Lively
(1-3pm) and Bill Golden volunteered to docent on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
c. The following volunteered to work Arbor Daze—on Saturday, April 28: Billy Byers (9am-2pm),
Doris Brown (9am-2pm). Iris Elliott (9am-2pm), Barbara Collier (5-8pm), Norma Lively (11am-
lpm), Helen Payton (1 lam-lpm), and Bill Golden. On Sunday, April 29: Barbara Collier (2-6pm),
Bill Byers (2-6pm), Michelle Burger (2-6pm) and Bill Golden (2-6pm).
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Acquisition Sub-Committee: Bill Byers reported the following:
• Mr. and Mrs. Ricks donated a beautiful love seat, water & tea pitcher, small sewing machine,
copper kettle, several lithographs, four cane bottom chairs, two lamps, a mirror, a kraut pot, an old
ice cream freezer, a carbide light, a bread board, two clocks, a pine chest, a brass statue, a rocking
horse and an old cook book.
• Donna Mickan donated a high chair.

• Several very important military artifacts that belonged to Sam Harrington have been acquired.
Items include binoculars, a canteen, a Luftwaffle helmet, a swastika flag, a bayonet, officer's
sword, a mess kit, etc.
• Peggy Vandiver donated a vise that needs to be picked up.
• Gary Parker may have a blackboard for the school room.
• A shovel used in several groundbreaking ceremonies by the city was acquired.
• Two Euless Junior High School annuals, a student handbook and three newsletters from the 1950's
were acquired.
• A dresser has been acquired and will be delivered to the museum.
2. Library History/Genealogy Room: Betty Fuller displayed a binder with ten years worth of research
included within. She will display the information in the Library.
3. Museum Setup Sub-Committee Bill Golden discussed the following:
• A workday was called for Wednesday, April 11.
• Indicated the idea of holding a pre-opening day or VIP opening day event for the Mayor, City staff
and other's to be determined. The members were agreeable to the idea.
• The grand opening will be on a regular open house day and a sixty day notice will be given to the
City.
4. Evolving History Sub-Committee— Barbara Collier stepped down as the chairman of the Sub-
committee. Mrs. Collier displayed photographs of various new buildings around Euless.
5. Historical Marker Program:
a. Bill Golden reported that Council no longer needs to approve local marker applicants. Approval by
the Historical Preservation Committee is all that is required.
b. Weldon Cannon is working on the write ups for the three buildings at Heritage Park.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Bill Golden proposed meeting in July and August. The Committee discussed the idea and Betty Fuller
made a motion to meet in July and August. Don Martin seconded the motion. Motion carried.
STAFF
1. Staff made two new brochures for the Committee. One is about the Committee and the second is about
the local marker program.
OTHER REPORTS
1. Peggy Vandiver may have a pair of binoculars she may donate.
2. Michele Burger requested permission to put out brochures at Grapevine regarding Euless.
ADJOURNMENT
Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Betty Fuller seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
