Euless City Council
January 14, 1958
The City Council met in regular session on
January 14, 1958, at 7:30 p.m.
Present and presiding was Mayor Ernest
Millican with Councilmen J. S. Anderson, S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, and
W. 0. Murray answering roll.
Meeting with the Council were Commissioner
Earl Johnson, Joe Rady and N. F. Strachan of Rady Engineering Company, City Attorney
Wm. L. Bondurant and guests from Cresthaven and Cedar Hills Estates Addition.
Mr. Johnson discussed street conditions and
the needs in these two additions in particular and assured the City he was
ready to do anything within his power to assist the City in its desire to
improve the streets in question.
The question of completing the numbering of
the houses in the City was discussed with Mr. Rady, and he promised that in the
near future all the additions now partially housed would have official and
permanent numbers.
The consideration for adopting an ordinance
requiring the vaccination of all dogs in the City was passed up as impractical
at this time due to the lack of funds to hire a dog catcher and a pound for
their keeping. However, it was agreed that arrangements should be made for
vaccination service on a voluntary basis. Such arrangements to be taken care of
by the City Secretary.
On a motion by Councilman Cadenhead, with
a second from Councilman Anderson, a move was approved by unanimous vote to
authorize alternate street lights at the intersection of Highway 183 and Main
Street, of the mercury -vapor type.
A second motion by Councilman Horton,
seconded by Councilman Murray, proposed that T. A. Kennard be appointed as
Tax Assessor /Collector for the City of Euless for the tax year of 1958, and
that Mr. Kennard be authorized to appoint a Deputy Tax Assessor - Collector for
the City of Euless for the tax year of 1958. The motion was adopted.
Councilman Cadenhead moved that the Council
authorize and instruct the City Secretary to make a purchase of filing
equipment and such other materials as are necessary to set up a filing system for
the collection of taxes; to have a quantity of letter -head stationery and
envelopes printed for the City's use. Councilman Horton seconded the motion and
the adoption was unanimous.
Another motion by Councilman Cadenhead moved
that the City Secretary be instructed to prepare and insert an article in the
Mid- Cities News requesting all dog owners to register their dogs for vaccination
on such date as would be arranged with a veterinarian who would come to Euless
at the City Hall and render the services. On a second from Councilman Horton,
the motion was adopted.

Councilman Murray offered a motion, with
a second by Councilman Cadenhead, that Ordinance No. 92, an ordinance for
commercial zoning on a strip of land owned by Dobkins and McGinty. The
motion was adopted.
On a final motion by Councilman Murray,
seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, it was proposed that the City Council
accept the Warren Fuller plat as presented: On discussion it was established
that a portion of a street in question had been in use more than ten years,
and though not a dedicated street, it was a street by prescription and the
City should accept it as such. The motion was adopted.
